December 29, 2017

Ultra Violet is 2018’s Pantone Color of the Year

Anyone who has painted and decorated a room knows that the color is paramount to the overall design. The wrong tone can cause the entire room to be off-balance, but the right shade can tie everything together. Color is so important that paint companies release a Color of the Year each year to help inform home buyers determine what will be trendy in the year ahead, while also offering a multitude of ideas on how to incorporate the color into your home. The Pantone Color Institute, which designates itself the “global color authority” has been choosing a color of the year since 2000. According to the color experts at Pantone, Ultra Violet is 2018’s Color of the Year.

“We wanted to bring something to the table that inspired hope and had an uplifting message,” stated Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman.

This dramatic shade expresses originality and inspires us to think beyond our world today. Ultra Violet adds energy and depth to any room.

Our Wedgewood model featured in the Halstead at Spence Crossing community showcases ideal examples of how to incorporate the Color of the Year into your new home. If adding an all-purple color scheme to the walls is a bold move at first, try experimenting with home accessories. Our Wedgewood model features an open floor plan where the kitchen and living room flow together. The purple valances, utensils and flowers in the kitchen coordinate perfectly with the purple tones of the throw pillows and rug in the living room. The same subtle purple displays will also work well in the bathroom. The master bath highlights hints of purple through the valance, towels and countertop accessories.

When you’re ready to completely transform a room, there are two areas in our Wedgewood model that are prime examples of how purple catches the eye. The media room showcases an accent wall with a rich and sensual shade of purple that sets a regal mood in the room. Pairing this accent wall with the offsetting grey couch and a fun valance completes the room. One bedroom featured in the model represents purple in its full glory. All walls are painted an intriguing hue of purple and bright white and silver accessories illuminate the room. The color is exactly as Pantone describes; stylish, eccentric and inspiring.

Pantone isn’t the only company to choose a captivating Color of the Year for 2018. Paint companies like Sherwin Williams, Behr, and PPG also announced bold colors that can instantly revive a room. Our Wedgewood plan featured in the Halstead at Spence Crossing community gives buyers the open space they want, but also the privacy they desire. There are four bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths within this spacious plan; including dual master suites on the first and second floors.
