In Classrooms or at Home, Hampton Road Students Get Ready For School

August 22, 2020

As schools in the Hampton Roads area determine the right course of action for the new school year amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the need to equip students with school supplies is more important than ever.

On August 20, our company donated backpacks and school supplies for ForKids' back-to-school drive to help K-12 students and families who are homeless prepare for a successful school year, whether it's home learning or in the classroom. These donations are part of our long-standing commitment to helping level the educational playing field so that all Hampton Roads students have the opportunity to succeed.

"Many classrooms share supplies among all students, and for students now learning from home, they may be at a disadvantage if they don't have a sufficient supply of their own," said Sally Horvath, Vice President of Sales and Operations at The Dragas Companies. "In an already uncertain time, it's important that we provide these students with everything they need to succeed for the school year."

Boxes and backpacks provided were packed with donations from Dragas' employees that included hand sanitizers, binders, loose-leaf paper, as well as writing and coloring utensils. We recognized that while most students will not be returning to school in person, they still needed supplies to set them up for success from day one.

While the Back-To-School Supply Drive is coming to a close, there are still opportunities to make a difference and support ForKids and its mission. Visit https://www.forkids.org/ to get involved and to donate.
