Creating a Happily Ever After at ForKids Art Auction

Once upon a time in a land by the sea, amazing warriors created a special event filled with enchantment, wonder and magic. Its official title is known as the Children’s Art Auction, but this year, it’s also known as the Happily Ever After edition. And for the fourth year in a row, The Dragas Companies has the honor of being the title sponsor for the event. Since 2002, ForKids’ Children’s Art Auction and Casino Night welcomes guests who are committed to breaking the cycle of family homelessness and poverty in Hampton Roads. This year at the Norfolk Waterside Marriot on Saturday, March 25 at 6 p.m., a magical art auction will take place, and you’re invited! The evening will begin with a live auction inviting guests to bid on unique items and artwork created by some of the children at ForKids. Casino tables will then open for fun and games and a live band and food will be available throughout the night. Bring your fairy godmother wand, glitter and wings, because fairy tale attire is heavily encouraged. ForKids’ art auction began in the spring of 2002 when government funding cuts affected the organization’s primary source of funding. Not yet a registered non-profit, the community was largely unaware of the work it did benefiting the homeless local kids and families. This special event was created not only to raise more awareness about the needs of children, but to change the lives of hundreds of children in the community in just one night. Last year, the children’s art auction raised over $800,000.
