Halloween Happenings in Hampton Roads

The Halloween season is upon us and Hampton Roads is full of delightfully spooky attractions and events for all ages. Here’s a guide to some of The Dragas Companies’ favorite local haunted happenings: October 28^th Anthem Wicked 10K (Virginia Beach) If you have ever wanted to dress up as Batman and run down the Boardwalk area at lightning speed, now is your chance! Join the largest Halloween race and party in Virginia Beach! Participants are encouraged to have fun, be creative and dress up in your Halloween gear for the Anthem Wicked 10K. Once you have run for your life, celebrate your finish with a huge party on the beach where plenty of Blue Moon beer, live music and food will be present. Ghoula Palooza (Virginia Beach) From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., dress your kids and pets up for a ghoulishly good time at Great Neck Park. Trick-or-treat, make crafts, or bounce on inflatable’s to ensure your child has a happy Halloween at the park. Haunticus at Nauticus (Norfolk) Board the Nauticus from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a series of frighteningly fun family-friendly activities. Storytelling, crafts, face painting, a witch’s brew, jack-o-lanterns and more bone-chillin’ fun will be had! Children ages 12 and younger in costumes get in free when accompanied by a paying adult. Day of the Dead Party (Norfolk) If you’re looking for a late night party, then we have the perfect event for you! Doors open at 9:30 p.m. and live music by The Cemetery Boys will play throughout the night while a dance party featuring DJ JoFroxi closes out the night. For more information, click here. 12^th Annual Halloween Bash (Norfolk) The Granby Theater has always been the number one venue for those that have a desire to experience the best in nightlife and clubbing entertainment in the Hampton Roads area. Helping celebrate the 12^th annual Halloween bash with live music will be DJs 401K and Ray Marco. The uniqueness of this event is the surreal stage designs, state-of-the-art sounds, intense light shows and visuals and much more. Ocean Park Volunteer Rescue Squad Haunted House (Virginia Beach) Get one more haunted house adventure in before Halloween at the OPVRS Haunted House on Shore Drive! This event is family-friendly and lasts from 6 to 9 p.m. Haunted Horse Rides (Hampton) Trick or treating with the Headless Horseman and free candy are part of the fun of Haunted Horse Rides at the historic Hampton Carousel this Halloween season. The carousel and it's finely carved and painted horses will be decorated, and carousel staff will be in costume. But beware, one of the carousel horses will be occupied by the infamous Headless Horseman! October 29^th Virginia Beach SPCA Mutt Masquerade (Virginia Beach) Grab your dog’s cutest costume and head to Neptune’s Park at 10 a.m. for a 5K Run (or walk) to show support for animals! Shop with vendors, play games in the Kid’s Corner or participate in the one-mile “pack walk.” Dogs are welcome to attend as long as they are on a non-retractable leash, are well-behaved, and not in heat. Monster Mash Family Night (Virginia Beach) Current exhibits at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art inspire the festive art activities; a gallery scavenger hunt and a Halloween-themed performance by special guests The C-Shells will take place. October 30^th Halloween Make and Take Craft at Great Neck Library (Virginia Beach) Kids of all ages can make and take a Halloween craft from the Great Neck Library! Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can choose your craft and make it come alive! October 31^th Triple R Ranch Fall Festival (Chesapeake) Instead of knocking on doors this Halloween, come to Triple R Ranch Fall Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. where tons of activities like trick or treating and the critter corral will be taking place. Some activities that require tickets will include the pony rides, hayrides, laser tag and the climbing wall. Children age three and under are free. Parking is $5 and tickets are $1 or 24 for $20.
