4th of July Activities in Hampton Roads

Join other Hampton Roads residents at one or more of these events as our nation celebrates its Independence Day! Socials are taking place all over Virginia Beach and its neighboring cities. There are games to be played, food to be eaten, and quality time with family and friends to be had. Here are some ideas you can partake in on 4th of July weekend: SANDSTOCK – A Tribute to Rock & Roll Enjoy national and regional tribute artists cover songs from some of the greatest rockers in history. All performances are free to the public and take place right on the sand at 24th Street at the Oceanfront on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Music starts at 6:30, so don’t miss out! Norfolk Tides vs. Durham Bulls “Take me out to the ball game…” Want to watch baseball that you and your whole family can enjoy? Join other locals at our Norfolk Tides baseball game as they take on the Durham Bulls at Harbor Park. There will be a Youth Jersey Giveaway, as well as a Star Wars Night. Pick Your Own Peaches If you love mouth-watering peaches and want to experience picking them for yourself, then come out to Greenbrier Farms in Chesapeake on Friday, June 30. The Chesapeake peach orchard has several varieties of delicious peaches that mature at different points of the season including Galas, Brookfield Galas, Blondes, and more. Greenbrier Farms is conveniently located just off Route 168 and has tons of fun for the whole family. See you on the farm! Gary Owen Comedy Show For those looking for some adult laughs this 4th of July weekend, then come out on Saturday, July 1st to experience side-splitting comedy at the Norfolk Scope. Gary Owen is one of America’s most beloved comedians, and he has entertained countless sold-out audiences across the country, which has led him to have massive success as a comic actor on the big screen. Busch Gardens Food & Wine Festival Want to enjoy a variety of dishes and beverages while strolling through one of the world’s most beautiful and exciting theme parks? Then Busch Gardens is the place to be. Pair tastes and thrills Friday, June 30 as chefs at Busch Gardens serve delicious food and wines that are not usually served at the park. Information and tickets are available online here. Circus in the Park Tricks and pranks and stunts and fire! Circus in the Park is what we desire. Families come to enjoy the show, as we see circus clowns go toe-to-toe! Acrobats, jugglers, hoops and whips, what goes better with fish and chips? Circus in the Park takes place Sunday and Monday at 17th Street Park, but don’t arrive too early because it doesn’t start til after dark. For more info, click here. Stars & Stripes Explosion Come out to the Oceanfront on Tuesday, July 4 as reds, whites, and blues light up the night. Fireworks starts at 9:30 p.m., so bring everyone you know. You don’t want to miss out! Celebrate Freedom Concert On Monday, July 3 at the Chesapeake City Park, there will be an open-to-the-public concert where families can come together and hear some patriotic music played by Fort Monroe’s U.S. Army TRADOC Command Band. In addition, there will be family entertainment for all ages. From face painting to a 3-year-old and under play area to giant lawn games and more. And to top it all off, colorful fireworks to end the night. So bring the whole gang out! July 4th Celebration Mount Trashmore is hosting their annual 4th of July celebration. Admission is free. Food and beverages are available for purchase and onsite parking is $10. The celebration starts at 4 p.m. and ends with fireworks lighting up the night sky. This is the perfect place to enjoy quality time with family and friends! Hampton Block Party Party! Party! Party! Join other Hampton Road locals at 6 p.m. on Queens Way in Hampton Saturday night. King of the Streets Basketball Tournament Presented by Project Elevation, King of the Streets Basketball Tournament is happening Tuesday, July 4 at Lafayette Park! This is where seven-men teams compete in a five-on-five tournament for cash prize and bragging rights. The proceeds are donated to Stop the Bullying LA & CHKD. Fireworks Sea Adventure Hosted by the Virginia Aquarium, Fireworks Sea Adventure is where family and friends can watch the fireworks happening in Virginia Beach from a relaxing boat ride. Nothing can beat the view of watching fireworks burst into beautiful shapes and reflect off the sea! The boat sails off at 8:30 p.m., so don’t be late! 33rd Annual 4th of July Great American Picnic & Fireworks This fun event is taking place Tuesday, July 4 at Towne Point Park on Waterside Drive! Come and join other locals grill, play games, sing, and dance ‘til the sun goes down. The picnic starts at 3 p.m., so bring your families because it’s going to be a hoot!
